Beautiful original hope chest made in the mid 1800's.
It is made of solid authentic pine and assembled with precise dovetail pegs that shoe beautifully on the exterior of the chest.
The entire piece looks to have been refinished at some point, but all of the characteristics that come through age have been well preserved during the process.
this piece has always been well cared for and properly stored.
the wood is very healthy with no water damage,mold, smell.

It has its original lock and key that still functions, however the latch part that goes on the lid is no longer attached, so the lock doesn't serve a purpose, a remade one can be added and restore the function! Beautiful piece that would look great in any home.
